Matt's First Birthday -- the cake

His Cake

all in all, i started preparing to make this cake on may 19th, and to frost it alone took 12 hours. a huge undertaking, but i am pleased with the results and for my very first fondant cake im not upset by how it turned out. for a 100% dairy free cake it has good texture and nice flavor. you can also get the recipe on the other blog...

blowing out the candle

We tried to teach Matt h ow to blow out his candle, but he tried to touch the flame and well, that was the end of that lesson, so momma had to help.

first piece 

He was quite amazed that i just handed him the whole slice. it took him a moment to realize i wasnt cutting it up or anything, i did pop a piece of cake and a piece of frosting into his mouth.

yummy!

 BUt i dont think much more of it went into his mouth. most just got crumbled.
