Friday Favorites -- Christmas songs that arnt?

This Movie has been missing from my house for I am guessing three Christmases. This movie is a standard in my house as a Christmas watch. But where has it gone? I found it today I was working my mothers DVD /VHS players over trying to get it to work and low and behold there was my movie. seems somehow it shipped down there for the younger kids to watch...

On to friday favorites....

There are so may christmas carols I personally like the ones that are not really about christmas but for some reason are only played at Christmas. One being "my favorite things" this one seems to have snuck in due to the "snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes" and of course "bright colored packaged tied up with string" this makes us think of christmas. so that seems to be when we listen to it. My husband would say, its because we can only tolerate show tunes once a year....

and even though I just LOVE that song This year I am picking "Once Upon a December" Why? I dont know maybe because I get to see the movie this year or maybe its because I have spent this last 6 months trying to remember days past... Either way Here is a clip of the song I choose to be my favorite this year.

Ask God for help and you will be heard. Along with what makes you rich is the love you share.

Also, until this year I truly did not understand the generosity of a community, I honestly thought this was just a movie. But after the outpouring of my community to help my family during my illness, I have come to see that art does impersonate life.

Friday Favorites -- thanksgiving leftovers

I am a big fan of sandwiches, slap it between two slices of bread and im good to go!

So of course the turkey sandwich is my favorite leftover from last Thursday, but my turkey sandwiches are not your normal sandwich.

You take you favorite type of bread I have used from white to pumpernickle they all work just as good. A healthy layer of miracle whip (or an equivalent) on not only the bottom slice as well as the top slice. Notice I mean thick when I say healthy.

Then a nice layer of white meat. A good thick slice of that as well. Deli meat just wont cut it.

Cranberry sauce comes next, this adds a nice tartness to balance the sweetness of the miracle whip.

And now the best part! Get out the leftover cold stuffing, it should slice nicely now especially if its not stove top. This adds all sorts of flavor to the whole sandwich.

Yes its a lot of bread, but if you only eat one of these each year its not a big deal. or if you want, make one and split it with your spouse. but you better give him his half before you try it, or you wont.

It cant be beat.

Friday Favorites -- Kid show

Favorite TV Show as a child is today's Friday Favorites.

There are so many shows I loved when i was a kid. So many that not all have stood the test of time.

The show i have chosen? Sesame Street

Alas My favorite Child show Is not was it once was. Overwhelmed by Political correctness and "you cant do that" it has lost its simple charm of "lets teach kids not to be afraid of monsters and lets help them learn something."

Step back with me into the past and remember how it once was and try and figure out just what was so bad about old school sesame street that now it has to have a "warning label" on it.

Friday Favorites -- Disney films

Disney has been making full length films since the 1937 release of "Snow White".

They have made not only a Ton of animated films but also True life Adventure, All Live action films, Animation that is combined with live action, and documentary. Seems like what ever you like Disney has a little bit for everyone. Certainly this is why when we think of films for our families we think Disney.

It also makes it nearly impossible to pick just one doesn't it? Everyone loves the classic animated films Dumbo, Cinderella, Bambi.

And Honestly when I chose this. I thought how hard can it be to pick one? Then I went to Wiki for a LIST of Disney films so I wouldn't have forgotten one. Now I know why they say "ignorance is bliss"!

There are so many I love not just from my childhood.... movies that make me think of my whole family piling into our 1977 cutlass supreme to "go see the newest Disney film" but also movies that my own family have done the exact same thing only with a different car! only some we didn't even realize it was a Disney film!

"The Little Mermaid" was my favorite Fairy Tale, but since they strayed away from some of the key things of the story I was highly disappointed with the movie.

So I think my favorite has to be the "Apple Dumpling Gang" not only a movie with great childhood memories but one with my own family as well. I still laugh at this movie and can be persuaded to watch it quite often.




PS As I got ready to post this i realized that today is Friday the 13th, and I should have done Horror Films in honor of that... OH well thats why i choose this stuff on THURSDAY!

I think we need to define what a love song is because it could be a perspective thing.

Friday Favorites -- Colors!

ALL right I know this wasn't a big surprise to ANYONE who knows me My favorite color is purple. My husband knew before he married m e that if he wanted to be married to me he had to not only take my child as his own, but that purple was going to be a MAJOR part of his life. he simply said ok as long as it isn't PINK!

Friday Favorites -- How To

Friday favorites was part of a "Blog Game" that I was a part of for a short while....

It was on my Craft blog, I have now moved it here.

I will post what the favorite is going to be on Thursday, as a PS or second post. Then on Friday you post your favorite to match mine. or if you don't have a blog, you can just comment your favorite!
