What to Wear and When to Wear it....

Before I start I want to say,

you must feel comfortable in what you have on, and you can learn to gauge your attire toward what you can learn about an event. for example if you are going to a garden wedding, but it is being done "western style" with hay bales for chairs, then you dont need to be "dressy" for this occasion. Most conscientious hostesses will inform you of the dress. some times directly, some times indirectly. But they must be clear on that. Which brings me to the reason of this post.

I recently was told that the dress code for an event was "Professional Business, But that we should be comfortable, as it would be hot, so perhaps Capri's?"

Well Ladies, you cant have these three things at the same time! business professional is hot and not normally comfortable. it is definitely not Capri's and sandals.

and i am going to sort out all of this for you. So at least you will know. You don't have to follow it but you will know.

OK this beautiful star has it all down. You learn how to dress and you will always look good. lets start off with just looking this over as bit. you see that some colors over lap? That means that for some functions you can wear an outfit for both occasions. and some don't cross any AT ALL! that means you don't wear these things to other events EVER!!!

Lets start there...

Sleeping
PJ's we all know what we wear to bed. If you have a favorite pair of shorts that you wear to bed KEEP them there. same goes with Lounge pants. they may LOOK well enough to go out to Walmart but do you really think they look like pants? or do they really look like PJ's?

we are going to move clockwise and on to

Sports
This is a casual as you can get. this also crosses over into camping and hanging out with friends. Of course that is determined by what you are doing with your friends. if you are just going to McDonald's its fine. But if you are going to go to go shopping say the mall? you are going to want to bring it up a notch.

That brings us to
Casual

Basically nice jeans (no HOLES!) and a nice top. very easy to do except to find nice jeans with no holes right now is nearly impossible. so you may have to cross over into dress pants...

Crossing over to dress pants as in the picture above takes us to a whole new avenue one i personally LOVE but i have little of (but i am working on it)

Business Casual

Now this isn't listed in our star but this is where it goes, it isn't too dressy or "church clothes" But you always are ready for any occasion. this grouping can cross over to casual by taking off a jacket, example the two models in the middle. NO i don't think i would wear it to play golf, but you could easily sit at the clubhouse and sip on a cocktail and not look out of place. or to wear this to shop, yea that would work.

Which brings us to Dressy

Church clothes, or rather what most people consider church clothes. they are also appropriate for recitals, receptions, weddings, garden parties, and concerts. and i don't mean rock concerts. dressy crosses over into...

Formal wear

Proms, receptions, Galas, invitation only events. If the man you are with should be wearing a tux you should be in formal wear.

this is the basics. just make certain your clothes fit and that they are nearly appropriate for what you are doing. there is so much more but frankly these are only pointers, a rough guidline to help keep you from ending up on the "people of walmart" website.
