No nail post today, I have to post about something personal today....
This has been the view out of my porch for as long as I can remember. I live i my grandparents home now that they are no longer with us. As a child MY brother and sister and out two cousins played in here (when grandpa didn't have corn in it, IT was a quick place to dash inside during a summer cloud burst. The sound of the rain on the tin roof was so calming for me.
Grandma would plant Glads on the side of the shed in the summer. so she could see them from her kitchen sink. When my mother was a Small child, this building was on the other side of the house, Well Grandpa hitched the horses to it and moved it from there to where it stands in this picture.
Summer of 2009 A HUGE Boxelder tree fell on it. I thought it was over then. But My Uncle carefully removed it and it still stood. Not even a dent to the tin roof. at that time we all marveled at how it could still stand. we back dated to when Grandpa Bought the house and the fact that it was here when he bought the house. So it had to be over 100 years old.
My uncle spent a week cleaning out the inside of the shed, He tried to jack up the side where it was sloping a bit and the wood began to crumble So with a heavy heart he started dismantling it. it was held together with wooden dowels and square hand made nails.
My mother took the dowels and some of the nails along with a board she wants to make a commemorative peg board out of them. because she also has the same fond memories of playing in it as we all did.
I did not need anthing from it, I have my photographs. The black and white one at the top of the page won first place in black and white at a competition in 2008. But the view from my window will never be the same.

The barn next to my parents house, which has been there for MANY, MANY years is being taken down this winter. It is hard to imagine that it won't be there anymore...I used to play in it when I was little. Fond memories that I will never forget. ~ Noell
