your nails are made of Keratin, the same thing that makes up your hair. it grows from the area underneath your cuticle called the matrix. As new nail forms at the cuticle the nail is pushed down toward the tip of your finger. the cuticle protects that new part of your nail.
If your cuticles are dry, they have more trouble protecting those new nail cells and your nails will be more brittle.
Signs that your nails need help...
Hangnails.... these are caused by dry cuticles and we ahve already said what dry cuticles do...
Soft Nails with Easy to bend tips... washing dishes, bucket cleaning, or biting your nails all can make your nails soft by weaking the bonds between keratin layers and can cause peeling.
how to fix this!!!
switch from acetone remover to non acetone. The acetone will dry out your nails and cuticles.
make a conscious effort to keep your nails out of your mouth.
MOISTURIZE! the best time to apply moisturizer is wehn you get out of the tub or shower, it locks in the moisture from the bath, and does the best work then. but moisturise more often if you use harsh chemicals on your hands like alcohol based hand sanitizers.
if these don't help you can also use a strengthening base coat once a week that will help bond the keratin layers.
What ever process you try, even if you do them all, plan on not seeing any real results for almost 6 months. that is how long it takes for your finger nails to grow out from the root to the tip. So you have to make a long term commitment to do these steps daily. But think of the results!

Hey, makes sense. Loved reading this.
I use pure acetone to remove excess Konading and I use Zoya Remove for taking off the nails polish. Zoya Remove is MUCH better than just pure acetone but I really need to moisturize better. :)
Thanks,
Susie
