for those of you that have missed my emailer or my note on facebook...
I have had all of my chemo and also I have completed my radiation therapy. At this point my chance of the cancer returning should be between 5 and 10% I think those are excellent odds
I went to my first "after treatment" appointment yesterday. And I will be off work for an additional 9 weeks. During this time I will be receiving no treatment. I will be using this time to heal from the radiation and the chemo. At the end of the 9 weeks we will repeat our scans,. To check to see if the cancer has returned, or basically if we missed something.
During this 9 weeks we will be "wrapping up" some other things that we have encountered along the way. Around the 6th treatment (halfway) we found a nodule (spot) on my thyroid. Thyroid issues run in my family so we decided (at the time) to deal with it after treatment was completed. We both feel that this is the perfect time. So we had that ultrasounded today. We indeed found the spot, but I do not know what more we will need to do. Possibly a needle biopsy of it. And probably more bloodwork .... Always more bloodwork.
I also have a cyst in my breast that has been there for years (over 15) that hasn't changed but this is the ideal time to deal with that as well. So Dr Nespola and I will be discussing that this week. As well as some other very minor issues.
I had really hoped that it would have been an "all clear" but from the beginning i decided hot halfway not one thing less than what i should do. So we will keep holding on and lettign God take care of the stuff i want to worry about. :)
