I live in a very small town, and we celebrate some very strange things. The first weekend of December every year we have what we call "Dickens of a Christmas"
Us Locals dress up in Victorian clothing (or best we can muster) and walk down on main-street and pretend we are from the book "a christmas carol"
There are vendors selling hot chocolate, Christmas cookies, the local shops have dickens sales. Lots of good cheer. There is always a choir singing, you just never know what you are going to find.
It is a nice way to start off the holiday season. Basically the whole town has a christmas party.
