Mediport in!

I had to be to the surgeons by 6 am. That means I had to be up by 4 am to get there on time. UGH! But we made it and had a pleasant drive in a fog bank that was thicker than pea soup.

I was put in surgery sometimes after 7:30 and I was out by 8:30 everything went off without a hitch. I was sitting at Denny's eating breakfast by 11 or so.

In this picture you can see my port under the steri-strips. I am a bit sore and I am certain sleeping tonight will be a bit tough. Although a nap at one today was easy enough.

They say I can use this when I go for my next treatment. yippee!

PS... see my hat?? My marine nephew sent this too me. I gotta say a big thank you to any military person who wears these in the heat! It was 83 with a breeze when this was taken and I was sweating under this hat! I cant IMAGINE wearing it in 90+ weather!

God Provides

Well with the fair this week I managed quite well to spend nearly all the money we had stashed. but i knew we wouldn't be going to any amusement park this year so i guess I felt justified. Then i realized that i had made a promise to a friend to visit them over the weekend and they are a gas tank away.

Umm that makes a problem. no milk no bread no eggs in the house.... Now don't go and think we are hungry! we have a full cupboard, and flour and sugar, meat etc. etc.... Just out of milk till we get paid on Wednesday... nothing anyone was really worried about.

But with my devotions this am i prayed "you know God, we're out of bread milk and Eggs.... I would really like to have those things today if you could swing it" then having God worry about it i left it alone.

I had it in mind to finish one of the rooms "spring" housecleaning that i did not get done Due to getting sick...

Steve's side of the Bedroom wasn't finished so thats what we tackled. and look what we found $12.25 tucked away in an envelope on his dresser. I remember him putting it there as he does as well. but we cant remember what for. never would have found it if we hadnt gone to cleaning his dresser.

Thanks God for the Milk Bread and Eggs!

To PIC or Not to PIC that is the question!

About a month ago I sent out a thing saying i had talked to the doctor about getting a mediport or a pic line. This is a system to administer the chemo with out having to make my arms look line a pin cushion.

I am ALL FOR this idea. I think with my high blood numbers.. yes my counts are still excellent. the risk of getting sick from this would out weigh any bad stuff that could come along and my doctor was fine with this decision as well.

But for some reason the appointment never got made. so no pic line. no mediport. I had another treatment last tuesday and it was a hard treatment. I was sicker this time. my veins hurt in my arm. I am afraid for the next time it may feel this way in my right arm... which is my dominant arm. So i started asking about my PIC line and why havent i gotten anymore information on it???

Seems my Dr must have had it slip his mind. so they are gonna get together and see if we cant get this in the works soon but who knows when! Now they are wanting to RE discuss medi port or pic... seems there is concern about the length of time i still have in my chemo.

SOOO guess i have to wait and see....

I was sent this video and i feel so strongly about this I had to let someone else know.

the "shirt" reference in the video refers to wearing a red shirt on Friday's to show your support

Chemo Mouth Solution

My Chemo taste was horrible this time, everything tasted bad.
Well the other night it was so bad, a glass of milk even tasted sour in my mouth.

Well, my science freak daughter looked at me and said "MOM! The PH of YOUR MOUTH IS WRONG!!!

I of course had NO CLUE what she was talking about but she still kept on with the lesson, she mixed me a glass of baking soda and water; and told me to rinse.

and Bingo! the taste was GONE only long enough for me to finish my dinner, but I got to eat! I will say this helped me make it though the last few days.

cuz chemo mouth makes you feel awful!
